A computer’s power supply PSU is one of the most important components of the system because without enough steady power your PC will not be running at its fullest potential, or may not run at all. Determining the right power supply for your computer system depends on the components that will be combined with it. For example, if you want that nVidia GTX 280 video card you will have to purchase a power supply that will provide the right connectors and sustain the right amount of amperage. Not all video cards are the same because they are made by many different manufacturers. Most graphics processors in today’s video cards are fabricated by nVidia or AMD/ATI and then soldered onto a custom printed circuit board PCB by one of the popular video card makers, like BFG Technologies. Notice how the difference between the two come down to a theoretical 50 watts, dedicated 12v rails, and cabling? Essentially, these power supplies perform relatively the same. Granted, this all depends on the specific hardware configuration in question. We recommend both of these power supplies to anyone looking to build a high-end to possibly enthusiast grade system.
